Thomas Hobbes

I've been learning about Thomas Hobbes in Social Studies. He reminds me of people who think negatively. The part I know the most about is that he was a pessimist and that he went to Oxford University. The part I don't understand is why he ALWAYS thought negatively about things. I'd like to know more about him and philosophy.

    He also thought the government should be strict.
