Benjamin Franklin

I've been learning about Benjamin Franklin in Social Studies class. Knowing about him helps me know what he invented that we use today, like the bifocals. This topic reminds me of another inventor, Thomas Edison, who invented something very important that we use today, the light bulb. The part I know the most is that he loved traveling and publishing stories. I'd like to know more about how he became so famous that he appears on the 100 dollar bill.

Thanksgiving

I've been learning about Thanksgiving in Bible class. Knowing about this topic helps me appreciate and give thanks to God whatsoever because He knows what is best. This topic reminds me of when someone died when I was a little kid and there was this pastor praying and thanking God. I told myself, "What is the point of thanking God when someone is dead?" I thought the pastor didn't like the man when he was alive so he was happy and thankful that he was dead. The part I really find confusing is in some case it's really hard to give thanks. So if you don't give thanks in that case does God understand? I'd like to know more about the Psalms of Praise, Thanksgiving, and whether Hannah fulfilled her promise to God happily or sadly.

Electric Charges

I’ve been learning about electric charges in Science. Knowing about this topic helps me know how electric charges can go onto you. This topic reminds me of when I rubbed against the table and felt an electric charge. The part that is most confusing is how do you feel an electric charge when a friend touches you? I mean you cannot feel “zaps” coming in you. I’d like to know more about those charges and how you can feel them.

I've been learning about Geometry in Math. Knowing this helps me build with forms if I want to make a card,house,picture,etc. This topic reminds me of when I was in 2nd grade and built with triangles and how I learned the different shapes again. The part that is most confusing is to make angles by myself, because it must be the same exact angle. I'd like to know more about how I can use what I have learned.

I've been learning about Hannah in Bible. The part that is most confusing is why didn't she have a baby int he first place? I'd like to know more about Hannah's baby if he ever missed his parents when he grew up. Knowing about this topic helps me know that God answers prayers. This topic reminds me of when I saw a show about kids acting out the story of Hannah.

I've been learning about the Revolutionary War in Reading class. Knowing about this topic helps me understand why the American wanted to be free and break away from English rule. The part I know the most about is how unfair and greedy the British were and how meanly they treated the colonists. The part that is the most confusing is why the British were forcing the colonists to follow them. They were fighting with the colonists and not allowing them to have their own government. I'd like to know more about how the Revolutionary War ended.

I’ve been learning about the Morse code in Phonics. Knowing about this topic helps me be able to write a secret message to a friend that knows it too. This topic reminds me of when I read a book and it gave me a card that has the Morse code on it. The part I know the most about is that the code is made up of dots and dashes. The part that is most confusing is how to space the letters in the word.

I’ve been learning about Hannah in Bible. Knowing about this topic helps me know that nothing is impossible with God. This topic reminds me of the time my sister wanted to have a baby brother or sister. She used to pray. Then my mom became pregnant and had me! The part that is most confusing is why Hannah gave Samuel to God. Won’t he be scared without his mom? The part I know most is Penniah use to torment Hannah.

I've been learning about what is going to happen when Jesus comes. Knowing about this helps me understand that we should be careful about what we do, for Jesus is coming. Cardiovascular Disease

I've been learning about how people can get cardiovascular disease because of their lifestyle. Knowing about this topic helps me know how to avoid getting sick or having any types of heart problems like heart attacks or getting atherosclerosis in my blood vessels. This topic reminds me about how, when I was smaller, I wondered why my mom sometimes had to take medicine to lower her hypertension. I had wondered what hypertension was. The part I know the most about is why heart attacks and atherosclerosis are called the silent killers. I'd like to know more about how atherosclerosis can be treated and how they make artificial hearts.

I've been learning about how to write a compare and contrast essay in English. This topic reminds me of how to write a story/narrative because you describe in great detail what your subject is. Knowing about this topic helps me see how to compare and contrast two things in a way to grab your readers attention. The part I know most about is how to outline your compare/contrast essay. I'd like to know more about how to start your essay so that people will want to read it.

Series Circuits

I've been learning about series circuits in Science. The part I know the most about is that if one light burns out the other lights will burn out too. The part that is the most confusing is why it is called a series circuit. Knowing about this topic helps me know that it is better to use a parallel circuit because if a light goes out the rest won't. This topic reminds me of when our Christmas tree lights all went out even though they were on a parallel circuit.

This topic reminds me of the books in Mauritus that talk about the slavery there. The part that I know the most about is she was called Little Lady, and this made a big war. I'd like to know more about her books because I like different types of books.

John Locke

I’ve been learning about John Locke and how he had faith in people’s ability to learn and to live together peacefully. Knowing this helps me know that you should always stand firm in what we believe in to accomplish anything you would like to accomplish. This topic reminds me of Rene Descorates who is well known for being the father of philosophy. Interesting enough, hebelieved that when you think therefore you are. This shows that he shared the same thoughts John Locke had. The part that is most confusing is how most of the people shared the same dream, and went through the same life and they most likely hadn’t even met. I’d like to know more about other people who changed history and went through a lot just like Rene and John.

I've been learning about the Civil War in Social Studies.  The part that is the most confusing is why owners treated their slaves like garbage.  This topic reminds me of when my mom spanks me; at least I don't get whipped.  Knowing this topic helps me not to be mean to people.  The part I know the most about is people in the North didn't like slavery but people in the South agreed with slavery.

Hannah

I've been learning about the story of Hannah in Bible.  The part that I know the most about is that Hannah had longed for a child for years and the second wife to Hannah's husband used to say bad things to her--tell her stuff that would hurt her.  The part that is the most confusing is why would someone abuse her fellow lady like that.  I think it is bad.  This topic reminds me of a lady who longed for a child and went to church to pray to God.  I would like to know more about Hannah's story.

Predictions

I've been learning about how to make predictions in Reading.  This topic reminds me of when we were inferring while reading The Whipping Boy and Ramona's World.  The part I know the most about is you have to think of predictions before, during, and after reading.  The part that is the most confusing is trying to listen to your brain for the prediction.  I'd like to know more about why we need to listen to our brain while we're reading.

Weight, Length, and Capacity

I've been learning about weight, length, and capacity in Math.  Knowing about this topic helps me measure stuff; for example, when I'm baking cookies.  I need to know how many quarts of sugar to put in.  This topic reminds me of when I was trying to make oatmeal cookies.  We put too much baking soda.  It turned out bad.  The part I know the most about is measuring the capacity.  I'd like to know more about how to measure length.

Mother Teresa

I have been learning about Mother Teresa.  She was a nun in India.  She fought poverty and sickness with love.  This topic reminds me of another woman who also took care of the sick, except she worked in a war.  The part I know the most about is how Mother Teresa never really liked big agencies and everything organized.  She like things "happily disorganized".  Know about this topic helps me see how God can work through anybody, even a Catholic nun.  He doesn't only work through Seventh-day Adventists!  I'd like to know more about why she decided to be a nun and why she loved to work with the sick and poor.

The Enlightenment

I've been learning about the Enlightenment in History.  Know this topic helps me know and understand how we came to have some classes like Math and Calculus and the subject of gravity in Science.  I also found out who invented these classes.  This reminds me of the Renaissance, a time when people also made discoveries that help us today.  In the Renaissance, it was art that people made discoveries in.  The part I know the most about is Montequie's rank in society and why his works are famous.  I'd like to know more about why Voltaire was persecuted and Montequie's work was taken so lightly.

Cardiovascular Health

I've been learning about cardiovascular health.  Knowing about this topic helps me to eat healthy food like a lot of fruits and vegetables and exercise regularly, like running every morning and doing some physical activity like playing football every day.  This topic reminds me of when a man was eating unhealthy food and he was fat and he didn't exercise.  So the doctor told him to eat healthy and exercise because if he continued to eat like that he would get some cardiovascular disease and die.

I've been learning about slavery in Social Studies.  Knowing about this topic helps me understand the suffering the slaves went through.  I'd like to know more about how the owners of the slaves felt.  The part I know the most about is how the owners beat the slaves.  The part that is the most confusing is the owners never felt sorry about beating the slaves.

Slavery

I've been learning about slavery in Social Studies. The part that I know the most about this chapter is on July 3, 1826. On the 50th anniversary of the United States, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died. On that day, all the slaves thought they would be free but Abraham Lincoln said they would be free when he dies. This topic reminds me of the slavery in Uganda. The part that is the most confusing is why would you keep slaves yet you have everything and you can survive without slavery? I would like to know more about slavery.

I've been learning about the circulatory system.  Knowing about this topic helps me understand how my heart works.  The part I know most about is that if you put all your veins together they'll be 100,000 km long, circling the Earth 2 1/2 times.  The part that is the most confusing is how veins are involuntary.  I'd like to know more about heart rates.

I've been learning about percents and why they are useful.  Knowing about this topic helps if I want to find out how much I earn total or to give tip in a restaurant.  This topic reminds me of when we tried to find out what "x" was because the technique is very similar.  The part that is the most confusing is that you need to add the tax to the price without tax to get the full price (total cost).  I'd like to know more about the real taxes so I can try it out.

Thomas Hobbes

I've been learning about Thomas Hobbes in Social Studies. He reminds me of people who think negatively. The part I know the most about is that he was a pessimist and that he went to Oxford University. The part I don't understand is why he ALWAYS thought negatively about things. I have been learning about proportions in Math class.  Knowing about this topic helps me know how to find the length I don't know on a side of similar things.  The part I know the most about is how to set up the proportion and I really like setting them up.  The part that is the most confusing is when you are given two units and you need to change to one unit and you don't realize it and get your answers wrong.  I'd like to know more about how to apply proportions in daily life and learn to solve more varied proportional questions.

Lazarus

I've been learning about Lazarus and his death in Bible class.  Knowing about this topic helps me know that God is the only person in the world who is in control of everything and He knows things.  The part I know the most about is that God is never actually killing us but He allows things to happen for a reason.  The part that is the most confusing is if God is really in control of everything why isn't He there when all those earthquakes and tsunamis happen in the world?  Does He allow that to happen for a reason or does He just do that on purpose?  I'd like to know more about God and His purpose for death.
